First-Year VC Promise

Eligibility Requirements for First-Year VC Promise

To qualify for the First-Year VC Promise, students must meet the following criteria:

• Apply to 51AVÊÓƵ
• Be a first-time college student (Note: Previous high school classes or AP scores do not affect eligibility)
• Complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application
• Be a California resident or AB 540 student
• Enroll full-time (12+ units) for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 at 51AVÊÓƵ

Important Notes:

• Summer 2024 fees may be waived for students who enroll in 12+ units (as long as the student is enrolled for the following term, Fall 2024).
• Eligibility criteria may change, and some exceptions may apply.

Steps for New Students

Before starting your studies, we recommend completing these steps to help you succeed:

1. Complete the Online 51AVÊÓƵ Orientation – Learn about campus resources and academic expectations.
2. Submit Official Transcripts – Send your high school transcripts, AP scores, and any prior college credits to Admissions and Records.
3. Attend the My Academic Plan (MAP) Workshop – This workshop helps you choose courses based on your academic goals.
4. Meet with an Academic Counselor – After completing the MAP workshop, schedule a session to get personalized course recommendations.

Second-Year VC Promise

Eligibility for Second-Year VC Promise

To qualify for the Second-Year VC Promise, students must:

• Have received the First-Year VC Promise
• Maintain full-time enrollment (12+ units) for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025
• Complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application
• Be a California resident or AB 540 student

Academic Standards for Second Year

To maintain eligibility for the Second-Year VC Promise, students must meet the following academic standards:

• GPA: Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Course Completion: Successfully complete at least 67% of attempted courses

Comprehensive Student Education Plan (SEP):
Having a SEP is recommended, as some legislation may require it for second-year eligibility.
