Tutoring Center

The Stan Wisel Tutoring Center is dedicated to creating a foundation of academic success for all 51AVÊÓƵ students through its tutorial services. The Tutoring Center provides academic support in more than 95 course subjects in the form of drop-in (in-person and online), appointments, (in-person and online), and embedded tutoring. Additionally, all 51AVÊÓƵ students have access to free online 24/7 tutoring through Nettutor.

You will find that our tutors are 51AVÊÓƵ students, and/or students from local universities who have been recommended by their instructors. Aside from helping students with course content; tutors also clarify instructions for assignments, help brainstorm ideas for papers and projects, and facilitate the use of strategies for effective study habits and exam preparation.

Tutoring Center Goals

• Assist students in understanding course subject matter through the use of proper tutoring techniques.
• Ensure that students achieve their personal academic goals by providing them with the appropriate skills and tools.
• Foster a collaborative environment between students, tutors, staff, and faculty.

How To Request Tutoring Assistance:

Students seeking assistance in person must be enrolled in the class in which they wish to receive tutoring.

• Check-in at the front desk

Students seeking assistance online must be enrolled in the class in which they wish to receive tutoring.

• Check-in with the receptionist on Zoom

Tutors will:

• Assist the student in reviewing subject material
• Clarify assignments and help select appropriate study strategies
• Help students assess their learning styles
• Encourage independent learning

Tutors will not:

• Do the work for students
• Edit papers
• Tutor outside the Tutoring Center
