Student Organizations that are recognized by Associated Students of 51AVÊÓƵ (ASVC) are allowed to use of the College name, use of College facilities, & can request funds from ASVC. ÌýAny enrolled 51AVÊÓƵ studentÌýis able to form a club or organizations. In order to receive approval from ASVCÌýclubs or organizations must complete the following requirements:

• A minimum of five (5) 51AVÊÓƵ Students who have paid their Student Activity Fee
• A minimum of one (1) advisor who is a 51AVÊÓƵ faculty or staff that will advise and provide guidance to the student organization on various college policies, supervise all financial activity and be present at all meetings and events. All advisors must sign the "Advisor Agreement" (see New Club Packet)
• Have a constitution and by-laws providing details on how the club/organization will operate and the roles of the organization officers.
• Submit the New ClubÌýPacketÌýto the Student Activities Office.

Once all requirements have been fulfilled, ASVCÌýwill thenÌýreviewÌýthe new student organization's constitution and bylaws at the weekly ASVCÌýExecutive Committee Meeting.Ìý

• Opportunity to gain practical experience in a safe environment.Ìý
  • Participating in a student organization focused on your area of study will give you practice experience in that field.Ìý
• Opportunity to gain leadership experience while expanding your resume.Ìý
  • Student organizations are often presented with opportunities to improve students' public speaking, team management, and conflict resolution skills.Ìý
  • Listing your participation in a student organization on your resume will show an employer that you're hard-working and able to juggle multiple responsibilities. You also may be able to get a reference for a future academic or professional opportunity through your faculty advisor.ÌýÌý
• You will develop soft skills.Ìý
  • Soft skills, also known as "people skills," pertain to your ability to collaborate with others effectively. Participating in student organizations can refine your communication and time management skills, engage with diverse groups of people, and teach you about different cultural backgrounds.
• You will learn a lot about yourself - and have fun in the process!Ìý
  • Student organizations present opportunities for personal growth by providing the chance for you to identify your interests, goals, and strengths. And, student organizations offer opportunities to meet new people and make new friends along the way.

All active student organizations and campus departments have the ability to request funds from ASVC. In order to submit a request for funding, student organizations and campus departments must submit anÌýOn Campus Facility Request FormÌýor Off Campus/Student Travel Funding Request Form to the Student Activities Office. Once the request has been received, it will then be reviewed by the ASVC Executive Committee to then placed on the agenda for the following Tuesday at the ASVC Board meeting. The request, then may be referred to the Finance and Budget Committee and brought back to the next ASVC Board Meeting for a final vote. The process may take up to at least two (2) weeks, so please plan your requests accordingly. However in order to ensure the event or activity you are planning is successful and is implemented smoothly it is highly recommended toÌýplan on submitting your six (6) weeks prior to your event or activity. The Inter-Club Council (ICC) is made up of representatives from each 51AVÊÓƵ club to work together to promote campus student life, student engagement, and advocacy among student clubs and leaders. All officially recognized VC student clubs and organizations are considered members of the ICC.Ìý

ICC meetings are chaired by the ASVC Director of Student Clubs & Organizations. All clubs and organizations must have an Inter-Club Council student representative and attend the ICC meetings throughout the semester.Ìý
