Sarra Hey-Folick
Sarra Hey-Folick is the applied clarinet faculty at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, as well as a Teaching Artist for Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, an L.A. Philharmonic organization. She frequently freelances with local orchestras in both Southern and Central California, including the Sequoia Symphony, San Luis Obispo Symphony, Symphony of the Vines, Opera San Luis Obispo, Lompoc Pops, and La Mirada Symphony. She is also a member of 3+1 Chamber Players and the Fortuna Wind Quintet. Hey-Folick holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she studied the deeper symbolic aspects of time and eternity embedded in Olivier Messiaen鈥檚 鈥淨uatour pour la fin du temps.鈥 Prior to her studies at UNLV, Hey-Folick earned a Master of Music degree in performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, and double bachelor鈥檚 degrees in music performance and political science from UCLA. Her principal teachers include Boris Allakhverdyan, Helen Goode-Castro and Michele Zukovsky.
