Victoria Sabonjohn

Victoria Sabonjohn (she/her) is a professional oboist and educator with a commitment to advancing music education and live performance in Southern California. Her core ethos blends artistic expression with a dedication to fostering a love of music in others. She is an adaptable freelance performer with appearances in esteemed venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Ahmanson Theater, and Pasadena Playhouse.

Victoria holds a Master’s Degree from the New England Conservatory, where she refined her versatility in musical roles and tonal flexibility— qualities that have become central to her dynamic career. Her broad range of performances include chamber recitals, serving as principal oboist with local orchestras, touring with Broadway musicals, and supporting community outreach programs.

Currently, Victoria is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in oboe performance in the Herb Alpert School of Music at University of California, Los Angeles. She has a particular interest in exploring strategies to increase oboe accessibility and equity in school music programs. Her research aims to address obstacles preventing oboists from starting within these programs and to develop initiatives that foster sustained growth for oboists at all stages.

Building upon her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stetson University, Victoria helps each student discover their unique voice on their instrument through her private teaching studio and youth orchestras. In addition to serving as adjunct faculty in the Music Department of 51AVÊÓƵ, she also holds positions as Adjunct Applied Oboe professor at Pierce College and Los Angeles City College.

When not working on reeds or listening to true crime podcasts you can find Victoria taking her hyper goldendoodle for walks and convincing her children that she doesn’t play the flute.
