Librarians are available to provide instruction in-person in our Library classroom or at your classroom, or online via Zoom. Library instruction sessions can be a brief orientation to library resources, up to a longer session that is tailored to meet the needs of your assignment.  More than one session can be scheduled in order to provide instruction that aligns with the research goals with your various assignments. 

If your class is asynchronous, we can work with you to find an option that works best for your students - this could be drop-in hours for your students or a scheduled live Zoom session at a day/time that works for your students.

We are happy to work with you to create a session that works for your class, students, and assignments! 

The is a self-enrolled, self-paced Canvas course consisting of the following modules:

• Workshop One: Getting to Know the Library
• Workshop Two: Finding Books
• Workshop Three: Finding Articles
• Workshop Four: Online Research
• Workshop Five: Is This a Reliable Source?
• Workshop Six: Citing Your Sources

Each module takes 30-60 minutes to complete. Students will receive a digital badge upon completion. Faculty may assign one or more workshop as an assignment and request the digital badge as proof of completion. Workshops can be taken in order or individually; however, it is recommended that students begin with Workshop One, then move on to the workshop that meets their needs.

Librarians can be embedded into your Canvas course by adding them as a Collaborator. Embedded librarians can provide additional library and information literacy support for your students.  Some examples of the support we can provide in this role include: moderating a discussion board, creating/adding a library module to the course, or hosting drop-in Zoom library help sessions.  We will work with you to determine the best ways we can provide support as an embedded librarian.

LIB V01: Using the Library of the 21st Century (1 unit)

This course is designed to develop vital library research skills. Locating, evaluating and understanding print and nonprint formats will be emphasized. A major focus of this course will include exploration and use of library proprietary databases and the research potential of the Internet and the World Wide Web.
